Artist Molly Baher
I'm a California native. I still haven't decided whether "that's a good thing" or not.
As long as I can remember I was always painting something, the walls, myself, our dogs, my little sister Myra...
When I grew up and went to kindergarten I learned that you could even paint on paper!
To my Mom's surprise I won a gold medal at the L.A. County Fair. I'm still trying to figure out what it was that I finger painted.
Well, I'm grown up now and never even thought of aspiring to be an artist. It wasn't until I went to Hawaii that I was inspired to pick up a brush. I loved the "above and below" style of work. I must admit I even bought a couple of serigraphs.
When I got home I thought that I might be able to do something like that. I went back to Hawaii with camera in hand and snorkeled day and night. I got some great shots but more importantly I came back with the feel of the dynamic life there was underwater. It was also a serenity that came with the sound of shifting grains of sand almost like hundreds of quiet wind chimes. I realized that the ocean was the truest form of fung shui. As Myra would say "It has good chi or energy".
After painting for a few years I felt I was ready to exhibit my work. I was happily surprised that art galleries wanted to display them in their studios. Currently I'm showing my pieces in Los Angeles and Lahaina. There are a few more pieces that I'm working on and will deliver them to you care of www.wildplanetart.com.
I hope you like my sea life interpretations!
I'd love to hear from you so
